Indulkana Anangu School

Learning Areas

Indulkana Anangu School's core business lies in the delivery of the 7 key learning areas of study incorporated into the SACSA Frameworks of Science, English, Mathematics, Society and Environment, The Arts, Technology, Health and PE. Indulkana Anangu School, along with all other schools on the APY Lands, uses the Accelerated Literacy Program - a program emphasising the use of age appropriate reading materials in literacy instruction. All of Indulkana's students are bilingual and it should be noted that many are also tri-lingual.

We have a strong school emphasis on developing student well-being and developing healthy living strategies. Indulkana Anangu School implements the Mind Matters Program, which is an Anangu Community initiative to give students skills in leading healthy and successful lives by planning for their futures.

In addition to these learning activities the school also undertakes a number of cultural learning activities as a part of our curriculum. These activities include participation in Ernabella Dance - which we participate in as a whole school and which has a strong cultural theme as well as incorportating learning in the areas of Arts, Performance, Design, Teamwork and Social skills. Every year the school celebrates "Iwantja Day" which is a cultural day lead by Anangu.

In 2006, through funding from the Parent School Partnerships Initiative Program (PSPIP), the school began a 3 year pilot program to implement a whole school DVD based reporting system. The aim of this program is to report student learning activities on DVD's as an alternative to written reports.
